The Justice of
Mendoza
evicted a group of people who had settled with
machines and a mobile box
, on a farm next to one of the most sought-after wineries in the province.
On Saturday afternoon, by court order, police officers together with a correctional prosecutor, arrived at the vineyard of the Durigutti winery, in the town of Las Compuertas, in the municipality of
Luján de Cuyo
.
It is one of the top areas for Malbec, the most promoted Argentine wine variety in the world.
Las Compuertas
is located at the highest point of
Luján de Cuyo
, 1,070 meters above sea level, surrounded by the foothills and the meeting point with the Mendoza River.
In this sought-after area there are more than
400 hectares
of high-value vineyards.
It covers a dozen wineries awarded for the quality of their wines and the level of their gastronomy.
And it has great tourist potential because it is only 20 minutes from the city of Mendoza.
They vacated land taken from a warehouse in Las Compuertas.
Inside the Finca Victoria, of the Durigutti winery, there are two guest houses for tourism and the 5-story restaurant, Cocina de Finca, directed by chef Patricia Courtois, among the select group of the 15 wine restaurants recommended in the Michelin Guide.
The eviction
The owners of the winery, brothers Héctor and Pablo Durigutti, filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office on Friday, March 15.
They explained that a group of people had
usurped land from the Durigutti Family Winemakers complex
.
The occupants of the land had brought a traction rolling box and an earth moving machine, with the intention of
making a plantation
.
The conflict between these people and the owners of the winery is due to an apparent dispute on the part of the farm.
However, Justice determined that the way to resolve it is through a Civil lawsuit and not by occupation of the space.
The eviction procedure was carried out by correctional prosecutor
Tomás Guevara
, who supervised the abandonment of these people from the place and ordered the removal of the machinery and the rolling box.
The court order bore the signature of the Guarantee Judge Natalia Didier.
Infantry police personnel participated in the operation.
According to official information, there was no resistance from the usurpers, who left the place at the request of tax officials.
