A Sunday trip with friends, on a cross motorbike, one of his great passions, turns into tragedy for Damiano Bufo, a 25-year-old originally from Castiglione Messer Raimondo and resident in Pineto, in the province of Teramo, who died yesterday due to a road accident: Bufo ended up against a chain delimiting private property, while doing motocross in the Bisenti countryside, also in the Teramo area.
The incident occurred shortly after 4pm, when the young man was in the San Nicola di Bisenti area on the border with Castiglione.
According to an initial reconstruction, the 25-year-old, while riding his motorbike with his helmet regularly worn, on a dirt road, without realizing it hit the chain with his neck, fixed between two trees blocking the path.
118 intervened immediately, arriving on site with both the Bisenti ambulance and the air ambulance that took off from Pescara, but there was nothing that could be done for the boy.
The injuries sustained were too serious.
The carabinieri of the Giulianova Company (Teramo) also intervened and carried out the initial investigations and seized the motorbike and the chain.
The soldiers of the Teramo investigative unit are dealing with the subsequent investigations and are currently following distinct fronts: identifying who the actual owner of the land is, who placed the chain on the private road and whether there is any unlawful conduct.
The young man would have entered the private land from a side entrance and not from the main road.
It was the elderly owner of the land, who died a few months ago, who positioned the chain to delimit the area, after repeated trespasses and intrusions.
The man's relatives, his heirs, say they are deeply affected, but are not making any statements because investigations into the incident are underway.
The Teramo prosecutor's office has opened a case, headed by prosecutor Monia Di Marco;
At the moment there are no suspects and we are working on the road accident.
The community of Bisenti was in shock and, even more so, that of Castiglione Messer Raimondo, where the boy had lived until a few years ago, before moving with his family to Pineto.
Well known in the village, the 25-year-old was deeply attached to those territories and whenever he could he returned there, like yesterday.
The mayor of Castiglione, Vincenzo D'Ercole, waiting to know the date of the funeral, announces that city mourning will be proclaimed.
