“The 'Reading Bag' campaign aims to awaken the desire for reading among those starting school and to make parents aware of the importance of reading and being read aloud,” the German Book Trade Association says about the campaign on its website.
If possible, children should learn right from the start that dealing with books is something valuable and that books, in addition to imparting knowledge, are exciting, funny and arouse curiosity.
Kirsten Boie, for example, does this very well with her own book “Gangsters have to be clever”.
