Antonio Laudati "is very stressed" he is "at a particular moment in his career and his life" we could have "technically asked for a postponement for health reasons but we didn't do it out of respect for the investigation and the Prosecutor's Office, because we didn't want it to seem like a path escape".
This was said by the lawyer Andrea Castaldo, leaving the Perugia offices after his client decided "not to appear to avoid the media outcry" but chose to avail himself of the right not to respond in the context of the investigation into abusive access to the anti-mafia prosecutor's office.
"There is no escape route - said the lawyer Castaldo - there is no conspiracy and at the right time when we will finally have access to the documents and know them we will be able to give our clear and clear version regarding the correctness of his actions" .
The lawyer spoke of a "painful decision" to "technically" avail himself of the right not to respond.
"Basically - he underlined - we are ready to clarify at the appropriate moment, when we will finally have the discovery of the documents and be able to represent the line of defence. Laudati left a formal statement signed by him to the Public Prosecutor to explain his decision but he did not show up".
To those who asked if they had presented a brief, the lawyer Castaldo replied no.
"Because - he explained - we technically have no knowledge of the documents. The outcry that there was and the leak of information made it necessary to make a paused but technically essential choice also given Striano's filtered declarations. We will evaluate them".
Regarding what Striano claimed and reported by Verità, Laudati - his defender continued - "says something that is widely known".
"There is a coordinated group - explained the lawyer Castaldo, reporting the position of his client - which filters the SOS and when it finds material that is technically interesting and harbingers of investigative developments, it processes it. Then there is a final report which is endorsed by the head of the Office and transmitted by competence".
