The war in Ukraine is passing the "point of no return" in terms of consequences for Europe and no European country "will remain unscathed" if the conflict does not have a just outcome: Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said in an interview with Euractiv.
Russian President Vladimir "Putin is counting on the erosion of our unity: we must disappoint him and we must be united as long as it takes to win this war", said Shmygal, underlining the need to "save the unity of the EU, within Ukraine and within the EU member states".
In the meantime, he underlined, Kiev "believes that it will be able to start accession negotiations (to the EU, ed.) in the first half of this year".
The President of the European Council, Charles "Michel, has defined 2030 as a possible target for further enlargement of the EU, but we will do our best for Ukraine to ensure that this happens sooner, immediately after our victory" over Russia, underlined Shmyhal.
However, the conflict is "crossing a point of no return", he cautioned when asked for an assessment of the current situation.
"No country will remain unscathed" in the event that there is no just outcome to the war, he added.
