The meeting last September in the Siberian Far East led to the "historic" turning point in relations between North Korea and Russia, with the "eternal strategic" cooperation based on "anti-imperialist independence as a common idea".
Leader Kim Jong-un wrote this in his message to Vladimir Putin for his fifth presidential mandate, according to the text released in the evening by KCNA.
"I will unite with you and bring about the new era of bilateral friendship with long historical roots and traditions in accordance with the needs of the times and carry forward the realization of building a powerful country," he added.
