Whether for a little sweet craving in between or as a dessert - the heavenly fluffy chocolate waffles can be baked in the hot waffle iron in just ten minutes.

Many people enjoy a small piece of cake or pastry with their afternoon coffee.

If you don't want to run to the nearest bakery, but also don't want to spend forever in the kitchen, you should try simple waffles instead.

Because the soft, still warm pastries are always well received and are freshly baked in no time at all.

Baking with the waffle iron: delicious variations

When it comes to waffles, most people probably think of Belgium.

No wonder, because there are actually freshly baked waffles to die for.

In contrast to the rather thin dough that is often poured into the waffle iron in this country, the Belgian waffle dough can be formed into small, firm balls.

And if you want to give your loved ones a little joy, simply bake a large batch of sugary waffle hearts.

These can be enjoyed on their own or garnished with fresh fruit, chocolate chips and a large dollop of whipped cream.

That's how quickly you can bake the heavenly chocolate waffles

  • First melt the dark chocolate over a water bath and set aside to cool.

Meanwhile, beat the soft butter together with the sugar and a pinch of salt until creamy.

Gradually stir in the three eggs.

  • In a separate bowl, the flour is mixed with the cocoa and baking powder and then added to the mixing bowl.

Mix everything together with the melted chocolate and buttermilk to form a lump-free dough until smooth.

  • Let your waffle iron run hot and grease it generously with a little butter.

Bake about two tablespoons of waffle batter in the hot iron for two to three minutes.

Optionally sprinkle with a little powdered sugar.

    Bon appetit!

  • Tip: Topped with a thin layer of powdered sugar, the airy chocolate wafers can be wonderfully served with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream and a handful of fresh berries.
