The Tokyo Stock Exchange begins the first session of the week with an increase despite the falling closing of the US stock indices, awaiting greater monetary policy indications from the central institutions, first of all with the meeting of the Bank of Japan, starting today, and from the Federal Reserve mid-week.
At the opening, the Nikkei advanced by 0.59% to 38,935.47, with a gain of 227 points.
On the currency front, the yen weakens against the dollar at 149, and against the euro at 162.10.
