Suffering from cancer, the monarch was ordered by his doctors to no longer attend large gatherings. The Trooping the Color parade being a very special event for the latter, it should deviate from the rule under certain conditions.


We remember the appearance of Charles III on June 17 during Trooping The Color, this major military parade celebrating the official birthday of the British sovereign.

The son of Elizabeth II appeared on horseback, dressed in a red suit and his legendary bearskin headdress to perform his first parade as king.

However, this year, Queen Camilla's husband could well deviate from the rule.

In fact, the latter announced that he was suffering from cancer on February 5, causing a stir across the United Kingdom.

A decision which has not yet been officially confirmed and which will depend on a final medical opinion a few days before the ceremony.

The Royal Air Force parade

As a reminder, the tradition of Trooping the Color requires the monarch to ride along Mall Avenue on horseback, from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade, before being saluted by the military.

The latter then returns to the palace for an appearance on the balcony, surrounded by members of the royal family.

They all end up watching a Royal Air Force flypast.

Note that the last birthday of Charles III brought together 1,400 soldiers, 200 horse guards and some 400 musicians.

Since the announcement of his illness, the King of England has not reappeared in public, like his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, who has been convalescing for two months following an abdominal operation.

The king received many letters of support from royal fans and Britons.

“He is very touched by all the messages that the public has sent him from everywhere.

It’s very encouraging,” his wife Camilla told AFP on February 10.
