Google is updating its Maps map service.
This has some advantages for both users and companies.
California – Google Maps is to receive a comprehensive update.
This means that in the future it will also be possible to integrate social media into the platform on Google's map service.
Social media posts could then be visible directly on Google Maps.
Google has been offering the Google Business Profiles (GBP) concept for a long time.
It allows businesses to appear in search results as well as on Google Maps.
Users also have quicker access to company information.
However, the latest update goes one step further: it aims to promote direct interaction with companies and also embed social media entries in Google Maps.

reports that Google is integrating posts from Instagram, Facebook and other social networks into the GBP.
This feature is intended to make it easier for customers to get a comprehensive picture of a company's online presence.
For business owners, this means that they can use their social media presence even more effectively.
To take advantage of the new Google Maps feature, business owners will need to add their social media profiles to their GBP.
Links to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok and other platforms can be added by editing the profile in the “Contact” section.
Not only does this make companies more visible online, but it also makes it easier for potential customers to search for companies on social media.
However, the availability of the function is currently regionally limited and may therefore not yet be available for some business profiles.
In addition to the social media features, Google Maps is also introducing the display of building entrances on the map, further simplifying the use of the platform.
So you finally no longer go to the wrong side of a building and spend a long time looking for the entrance that is actually on the opposite side.

In January (January 30, 2024), Google also made it possible to use the 3D view during navigation.
Until then, the 3D view was only possible in the normal map preview.
