The definitive green light for the law on the restoration of nature has been postponed to a date to be set.
Having noted the absence of a qualified majority in support of the agreement already reached with the European Chamber, the Belgian presidency of the EU Council decided today to withdraw the point without discussion at the meeting of ambassadors at Coreper and not to put the dossier on the agenda Monday at the EU Environment Council.
According to a source close to the dossier, "the text will be re-proposed in due time" even if there are no times or deadlines yet.
The proposed regulation dates back to June 2022 and was put forward to restore the natural and productive potential of land and environments and not just protect them in protected areas.
