About 80,000 people pass through the central "Ha Hacha" station in Tel Aviv every day.

A little over 30 years ago, it opened with great fanfare (after waiting 25 years for its establishment) as the second largest bus station in the world, spread over 230,000 square kilometers. It did not take long until it became an ongoing nightmare for the residents of South Tel Aviv, and a declared environmental nuisance which is getting worse year by year.

It was only at the end of last year that the Ministry of Environmental Protection declared the area affected by air pollution according to the Clean Air Law. Buses that enter and leave the station on urban and interurban routes." The movement of vehicles, according to the authors of the report, is accompanied by emissions of air pollutants which manifests in high concentrations of pollutants.

However, it seems that the Ministry of Transportation does not plan to promote the evacuation of the place, when the evacuation of the hazard is only planned for 2035.

Will artificial intelligence redeem us?

Liron Hazan and Yuval Kers, designers from the School of Design and Innovation in the academic track at the College of Administration, wanted to propose a temporary solution to the problem: on the one hand, it would provide a solution for the rapid evacuation of the station, and on the other hand, it would prevent it from being an environmental and social hazard.

According to Yuval Kers, herself a Tel Avivian, the situation should have changed a long time ago: "As someone who uses public transportation a lot in the city, it's no secret that the central station is a not so pleasant area. This is an unwritten law because there are times when it is highly recommended not to walk around in it. Without visiting No one, I believe that the design of the station has significance in the result we reached."

The solution they offer is a new social-transportation space, which will absorb the values of the city and also allow for regional development.

"Fortunately, as designers, today we have artificial intelligence tools that greatly assist us in the process. It is important to say - it is not just about choosing the colors or the architectural elements, but a two-way process from the initial stage of the research that preceded the project."

Liron Hazan says that the designers were inspired by the international designer Zaha Hadid, who designed public buildings around the world according to the current of digital architecture.

"This is an environmentally friendly central station. Along with transportation services such as a level for buses and future light rail and metro lines, the station will also offer social services: shared bicycles, etc."

The new design of the station will include three central spaces: a main structure that will provide a transportation solution;

Another internal structure inside a commercial center, semi-open similar to the Big in Ashdod and the external space that will correspond with its surroundings.

The building has a futuristic appearance, and will use natural light and the modern design style that characterizes the business center of Tel Aviv using a light color palette.

"The new complex will attract a population that until now has been prevented from coming to the area. This is not about crowding out the existing population. Rather, it is about inviting new audiences to make more use of public transportation, thus lowering the pollution levels in the city and reducing the amount of traffic jams that we all suffer from. This is the power of architecture and design - to give a simple solution - which will also be beautiful."

Inbal Streichman-Tal, lecturer at the School of Design and Innovation at the College of Administration: "Artificial intelligence tools are assets to more and more places in our lives, and today more than ever in the worlds of design and architecture. The introduction of Generative AI tools gives us, the designer community, a basket of tools and new opportunities for developing choice and understanding of new ideas and approaches to work - also in providing friendly transportation solutions in dense cities like Tel Aviv."
