Highlights: Sophie Marceau spoke about the chaotic filming of Maurice Pialat's film in 1985. After being “great”, the actor would have been “humiliating” towards him. “He didn't rape me or hit me, but he made very inappropriate gestures,” she said. The actress also indicated that her filming partner had transformed into “Mister Hyde” behind the scenes of Police. Gérard Depardieu is accused of sexual assault by 15 women.

In an interview with Vogue on Wednesday March 20, the actress once again spoke about the chaotic filming of Maurice Pialat's film in 1985, after a first experience of the opposite on that of Fort Saganne. After being “great”, the actor would have been “humiliating” towards him.

During the love scenes, the actor would have imposed his wandering hands on her, “insistent, omnipresent, useless and invisible on camera”, she revealed in Le

Monde

, in July 2023. Eight months later, Sophie Marceau returned on the chaotic filming of

Police

(1985) in the columns of

Vogue

, Wednesday March 20.

After the release of the film, the actress already denounced the humiliating attitude of her filming partner Gérard Depardieu, today accused of sexual assault by 15 women.

At the time, no one would have listened to the actress, then 18 years old.

“I was the little devil, “the big bitch” as Maurice Pialat and Gérard Depardieu had nicely said on TV, she recalled in

Vogue

.

And it didn’t shock anyone!

Lots of directors told me afterwards that, at the time, they thought they would never film with me.”

Before adding: “The agreed word was to say: “How she treats her director…” I was not blacklisted but I believe that many were cooled.”

“Mister Hyde”

Sophie Marceau nevertheless declared that the director of the feature film, Maurice Pialat, had put water in his wine during filming.

Unlike one of the stars of his film.

“Gérard Depardieu, on

Police

, was a different story,” she said.

He was elsewhere.

I knew him on

Fort Saganne

(1983), where he was great.

When I accepted Pialat's film, I said to myself: “There will be no problem, there is Depardieu next to me and he will help me.”

And no !

He was terrible.”

She thus described the actor as “versatile”.

“During

Fort Saganne

, he was good-natured, funny, outspoken, but I don't remember him being shocking or provocative,” she said.

Gérard is tough and I think the system really encouraged him to persevere.

Because the cinema adored this personality, this nature, this truth, as they said.

The actress also indicated that her filming partner had transformed into “Mister Hyde” behind the scenes of

Police

.

“It was about who would cause the biggest chaos.

He was very poorly brought up, poorly polite,” she stressed.

“All this under the pretext of laughing…”

The actor would also have been humiliating towards him.

“He didn't rape me or hit me, but he made very inappropriate gestures,” she said.

It was nothing but provocation, humiliation, a seizure of power.

And all this under the pretext of laughing... Afterwards, I no longer wanted to film with him.

Never.

I found that he went beyond his limits but that the others who let him go beyond them too.

Everyone was getting into their game.”

In July 2023, Sophie Marceau already assured Le

Monde

that Gérard Depardieu would have, from the outset, established a “power relationship” with her.

For example, he allegedly began to eat snails, shortly before filming a sequence in which they were very close, so that she would be embarrassed by his bad breath.

And allegedly behaved inappropriately towards certain members of the team.

“He never dared to touch me in front of the team, otherwise he would have received my fist in the face,” explains Sophie Marceau.

But with the poor dressers…” During the promotion of the film, no media took seriously the violence denounced by the actress.

“He’s a predator, Depardieu, he has to eat everything and everyone,” Sophie Marceau said in 2015, in the columns of

Society.

Accused of sexual assault by 15 different women, Gérard Depardieu was indicted for rape in December 2020.
