There are many misconceptions on the road.
One of the biggest is the one via the yellow traffic light.
Almost every driver makes a mistake every day - and risks a fine.
Hamm - Millions of car, truck and two-wheeler drivers in Germany drive through a so-called traffic light system, better known as a traffic light, every day.
They come in a wide variety of designs, but the majority have one thing in common: three colors and four phases.
Every road user must know the meanings.
In reality, however, there is a big misconception.

If you are driving towards a traffic light and the phase changes from green to yellow - do you still go through the traffic light or not?
Many road users will answer: “If I make it through the yellow phase, I’ll still be driving.” And the majority will probably think they’re in the right.
After all, the traffic light isn't red yet.
A big mistake.
The Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) are very clear on the question.
Paragraph 37, paragraph 2 states: “Yellow commands: 'Wait for the next sign before the intersection'.” Driving quickly over yellow is therefore not permitted by law.
However, there is an exception in this case, as the ADAC explains.

“Approaching drivers who can stop in front of the traffic light with medium braking and without endangering those behind them must bring their vehicle to a stop.” In plain language, this means: Anyone driving towards a traffic light at the appropriate speed should not slam on the brakes when the traffic light is off jumps around.
This would endanger the road users behind.
However, drivers and others on the road must expect to receive a warning fine if they accelerate to “get” the yellow traffic light.
According to the ADAC, a yellow light violation is punished with ten euros.

Another misconception in road traffic: The speed limit automatically ends at a speed limit after every motorway entrance or intersection.
