A new legendary voice in French cinema has passed away.
A few weeks after the death of Alain Dorval, the French voice of Sylvester Stallone, it was Daniel Beretta, known to be the voice actor for Arnold Schwarzenegger, who died during the night from Friday to Saturday in Ajaccio, announced his daughter to the AFP.
The actor was 77 years old.
Before becoming one of the sacred monsters of dubbing, Daniel Beretta studied at the Petit Conservatoire de la Chanson and started in cabaret, forming a successful duo with Richard de Bordeaux, before moving on to theater and cinema.
He notably played alongside Nino Ferrer in “A Wild Summer” by Marcel Camus, released in 1970, and in “Cyrano de Bergerac” by Jean-Paul Rappeneau, in 1990.

He also appeared in various musical comedies such as “Jesus Christ Superstar” in 1972 or “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg” in 1980. After giving concerts at the Olympia, wrote songs for Mireille Mathieu and Nino Ferrer (

or even directed the one-man show "Raval alone", he first lent his voice to Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1988 in "Double Détente", and all his films since.
From “Terminator” to “Batman & Robin”
In total, he dubbed the former governor of California in 28 feature films, from “Double Détente” to “Terminator 2” via “Batman & Robin” and the other “Terminators”, making his voice one of the voices of dubbers most identifiable to the ears of several generations of French-speaking fans of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“He was an Ajaccian at heart,” declared his friend Christophe Mondoloni, deputy mayor of Ajaccio.
“He had been living here for 50 years,” added the elected official.
Stéphane Bosc, general director of RFM and Virgin radios, has often crossed his path.
“I knew him when I worked at Nostalgie,” he remembers.
It was the 1990s and I was a producer.
At the time, he was the official voice of Nostalgie, then of RFM.
