Easter and spring long weekends.
The Astoi Confindustria Viaggi observatory, the association that represents over 90% of the Italian touroperating market, confirms a growth in revenues in the sector with a +8% in turnover relating to departures from Easter to May 1st.
The incidence of advance booking is the highest in the last four years.
Conflicts have a relative impact, as does inflation.
As for destinations, the mountains are still doing very well in Italy, while in Europe there are preferences for Ireland, Iceland, the Scandinavian countries and Portugal.
In the Middle East, the areas bordering the conflicts recorded a decline compared to 2023 but still obtained consensus, starting with Egypt.
Seaside stays reward the Red Sea, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde and the Dominican Republic;
traveling trips confirm the winter trends i.e. United States, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, with South America recovering.
Cruises also confirm their growth.
The average travel duration during the spring 2024 holiday weekends is approximately 8 days.
The average costs per person ranged from 1,150 euros for the generalist product, to 1,600 euros for a holiday in a village, rising to 3,500 euros when it comes to tailor-made trips.
The increase in the price of services, compared to 2023, was more contained, equal to approximately +5% compared to last year and essentially concerned the flight component.
"Bookings for the Easter period and spring long weekends - says Pier Ezhaya, president of Astoi Confindustria Viaggi - record a growth in revenues of 8% over 2023 and almost all of the destinations involved show a positive trend. Organized tourism records higher percentage growth than tourism in general, a sign that it is finally chosen by consumers for the irreplaceable values that characterize it; in fact, it is perceived by people as a source of guarantees, but also as a channel where they can book more personalized experiences that are difficult to find individually".
