Today the coasts of six Italian regions see in action around fifty inmates from nine penitentiaries and volunteers from Plastic Free, the organization committed since 2019 to combating plastic pollution, for a new coordinated action against environmental degradation.

"After last year's success - it is explained - the events organized by the non-profit organization and Seconda Chance, a Third Sector association which acts as a bridge between prisons and companies to create reintegration opportunities, are back".

"For many inmates this is the first release, after some time, thanks to a bonus permit granted by the Surveillance Judiciary - declares Flavia Filippi, founder and president of "Seconda Chance" - This gives even more meaning to this renewed partnership based on values such as 'inclusion, re-education, respect for nature and legality. Thanks to the collaboration with the prisons of Cagliari, Livorno, Secondigliano, Palmi, Locri, Laurelana di Borrello, Bari, Ancona Montacuto and Ancona Barcaglione we will be able to achieve a double result, for the benefit of the environment and the well-being of prisoners".

"This initiative demonstrates how everyone's concrete contribution is fundamental for the protection of our territory - adds Lorenzo Zitignani, general director of PlasticFree Onlus - Armed with gloves, brooms and the desire to share, the inmates will be guided by our volunteers in environmental cleaning operations so that they can clean up the beaches of six splendid locations from the waste that our seas return to us".

Environmental cleanups, also a moment of social inclusion, are open to all citizens who wish to take part after registering on the website www.plasticfreeonlus.it.
