The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, participated this morning, together with other state officials, in the commemorative ceremony of the eightieth anniversary of the Fosse Ardeatine massacre.
After placing a wreath on the plaque commemorating the fallen of
24 March 1944
, the President and the secretary of Anfim, Francesco Albertelli and Marco Trasciani, spoke.
The names of the martyrs were read then the commemoration continued with the Catholic prayer recited by Monsignor Sergio Siddi, military chaplain, and with the Jewish prayer officiated by Riccardo Di Segni, chief rabbi of the Jewish Community of Rome.
Mattarella then paid homage to the victims of the massacre.
