Munich – Food or other household products have to be recalled again and again if a mistake has been made during production.
A pepper had to be recalled due to increased pesticide residues.
Pepper recall: Pesticides in food again and again
Pesticides are an essential component in agriculture.
“By using pesticides, farmers want to prevent losses in yields as well as losses after harvest and during storage,” writes the consumer advice center.
Organic food and regional products generally contain fewer pesticides, while products from third countries are often more contaminated with them.
This product is affected by the recall:

The pepper recall concerns a product from the manufacturer Sichuan Hein Food Co. LTD from China.
It is the 30 gram pack with the best-before date of August 15, 2025. As the manufacturer announced, no other best-before dates and pack sizes are affected by the recall.
The reason for the recall is that the maximum values for the pesticides acetamiprid, tebuconazole and chlorpyrifos have been exceeded.
Lidl had to recall several products last year due to pesticides.
Pesticide residues in pepper: Product can be returned
If consumers find the recalled pepper on their shelf, it can be returned to any point of sale.
The purchase price will be fully refunded even without a receipt.
The affected batch has already been withdrawn from sale.
The manufacturer strongly advises against consuming the spice: “It cannot be ruled out that consumption of the product will lead to health problems,” they say.

As the consumer advice center writes, the pesticides found can get into food even if used correctly.
In small quantities these are often harmless, but still cause a recall.
“Even though pesticide residues in food can be problematic, the positive ingredients in fresh fruit and vegetables outweigh them,” consumers are reassured.
Cheese and meat are also often affected by recalls - the potential health risk is often greater there.
