Marlyn Anderson announced that the couple would buy a spacious bungalow to give Ian a “better quality of life” for the Olympics.

One of the last gifts that life decided to give him.

Ian Anderson, 77, has just won a million pounds sterling (around 1,150,000 euros)

in EuroMillions

with his wife Marlyn, a 70-year-old care worker , reports the BBC.

A wonderful win for Marlyn and Ian, who currently live in a room on the ground floor of their house due to the ongoing oxygen treatment the latter requires.

“Due to his state of health, Ian is unable to go upstairs,” says Marlyn, quoted by Sky News.

“His health is deteriorating and he is having trouble breathing, so our living room is currently set up as a bed,” she continues.

It is for this reason that this gain of one million pounds sterling “comes at the best time” and will allow them to buy a spacious bungalow.

“This will allow Ian to have the best quality of life possible in the time he has left,” rejoices the carer, who now dedicates her time to assisting her husband.

“Purchasing a bungalow will allow Ian to have his own bedroom and for us to have a living room, all on one level.

They initially thought they had won 1,000 pounds

The couple, married for 32 years, bought a EuroMillions ticket on March 12 and initially thought they had won £1,000.

“I then started counting the zeros but I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I kept thinking that this couldn’t be true and that it must be a scam,” says Marlyn.

“I desperately looked at the clock waiting until 8am so I could call the National Lottery to confirm if what I was seeing was real.

I couldn't believe it when the person on the other end of the phone told me that it was indeed the case,” she says.

Despite this confirmation, the couple who have already bought a new car say they still don't realize it.

“Winning the lottery can buy you things you couldn't afford, but not health.

That’s why the best thing to do is to make your life as comfortable as possible,” concludes Ian’s wife.
