Charles III never hid his affection for Kate Middleton, his “beloved daughter-in-law”.
Now, the illness brings them even closer together.
While the sovereign was diagnosed with prostate cancer last February, the wife of his eldest son said she had a similar illness.
On Friday, March 22, she announced in a filmed video: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London (...) tests after the operation revealed the presence of cancer.
The medical team therefore advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy.”
A few hours before the Princess of Wales shared this news, she spoke with her father-in-law, who understands her problem better than anyone.

A common battle
As reported by
The Mirror
, this tête-à-tête would have been desired by Kate in order to assess the general state of Elizabeth II's son, and to speak with him about the fight they are each leading.
“It’s very rare for the two of them to be alone sitting together like this.
The king already knew that his beloved daughter-in-law had cancer.
They must have had a lot to say and share,” a source told the tabloid.
And to continue: “The king left this lunch very moved.
They are very close and he considers Catherine his daughter.
There is no doubt that they will support each other during their deeply personal battles with cancer.”
It also seems that it is not only King Charles and the Princess of Wales who have become closer during this difficult period.
It would be the same between Prince William and his mother-in-law, Queen Camilla.
Both must manage their spouse's illness and honor royal commitments on their behalf.
As such, it actually seems quite natural that they would hold hands.
