The subsidy is intended to help trainees who start an apprenticeship in a company outside of their usual commute and are therefore forced to change their place of residence.
This subsidy includes reimbursement of travel costs back home once a month, but only in the first year of training.
The prerequisite for this is that the training facility cannot be reached within a reasonable time from the trainee's current place of residence, which means that a move is necessary.
The subsidy can be applied for online at the Federal Employment Agency or in person at the job center.
It remains to be seen whether this incentive will be sufficient to fill the training positions.
