very desperate

the ambulance took a long time to arrive
and the people who were there tried to help. They did CPR on him, but he didn't react," said one of the witnesses who preferred not to give his name.
In a conversation with the newspaper El Día, the young man recounted the shocking experience he experienced.
"The first to assist her were the neighbors who were jogging in the park. A boy and a girl took turns trying to rehabilitate her, but she did not respond," he explained.
"They spent more than 15 minutes doing CPR and the ambulance never appeared in that period. Even though it had been called. Everything was very traumatic," he said.
In the story, the witness explained that the police later arrived, but that "they couldn't do much."
"When the police arrived, there were about 50 people surrounding the woman. We didn't know if she was dead. We asked them to take her to the Italian Hospital, which was just here, a few blocks away, but they refused," he warned.
