The Israeli delegation in Doha accepted a compromise proposal, put forward by the US, regarding the relationship that should be established between the release of each Israeli hostage of Hamas and the number of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel who should be released.
This was stated today by the Israeli press, according to which a reaction from Hamas to that proposal is now expected.
Last night, according to public radio Kan, the head of the Mossad David Barnea and the head of the Shin Bet (internal security) Ronen Bar returned, but they left their collaborators in Qatar to continue contacts.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli delegation was authorized to address the issue of the return of Palestinian civilians to the north of the strip.
Israel, adds Yediot Ahronot, has instead rejected the request to renounce a land corridor created, for military operational purposes, in the center of the Gaza strip.
According to the newspaper, the positions of Israel and Hamas remain distant on several points.
However, Barnea and Bar are ready to return to Qatar at any time, according to media reports.
Meanwhile, today Defense Minister Yoav Gallant leaves for the USA where he will meet Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and CIA chief William Burns, who took an active part in the Doha consultations on the prisoner exchange and on a ceasefire in the Strip.
