A day of inconvenience for passengers due to the strike of railway staff called by the independent groups (Cub Trasporti, SGB and USB) from 9pm on Saturday 23 March to 9pm on Sunday 24 March.

No action to 'cool down' the protest came from the government.

While waiting for the official figures from the unions and companies, the station posters confirm the inconvenience for those who have had to choose trains to travel with an average of one train canceled for every 3 departing or arriving trains.

Another day of passion therefore for those who traveled by train, and with travelers who were not even able to take advantage of the guarantee bands provided by law, such as the one that protects commuters, because the unrest took place over the weekend .

All railway companies were affected by the stop: from Trenitalia to Italo to Trenord.

Trenord has in fact made it known that it has guaranteed connections on every line, despite the various canceled journeys.

At 12, two out of three regional trains in Lombardy were running.

The protest was also without the guaranteed bands.

The strike also made itself felt at the Bologna hub, with cancellations and delays: at least one train out of three of those scheduled was also stopped in Bologna.

Around 4.30pm, looking at the departures board from the Central Station, of the 40 trains that appeared on the display, 9 were canceled and a dozen were not on time with delays ranging from 15 minutes to 60 minutes for a couple of trains up to 110 for a direct train in Sibari.

But the situation for travelers could be difficult even after the end of the unrest: the stops proclaimed by some independent trade unions - Trenitalia explained in a note - "could have a significant impact on railway traffic and lead to total and partial cancellations of Frecce, Intercity and regional trains. The effects, in terms of cancellations and delays, even before and continue beyond the end time of the strikes".

Travelers will still be able to request a ticket refund in accordance with the general transport conditions of each carrier, which can be consulted on the website of the individual railway companies, Trenitalia always explained.
