"I don't have anything against Macron but a Europe that talks about sending its soldiers to slaughter outside its borders is against the principles of the European Community" when "we should be working to defend ourselves from Islamic terrorists".
Matteo Salvini said this at the Lega political training school at the Palazzo Rospigliosi conference center in Rome.
The sovereignist meeting wanted by the League in Rome "gave the idea that we are part of a team", explained Salvini, claiming: "I am a sovereignist, because it is not a dirty word".
"Sometimes you have the feeling that you are against the world, but then when you go out you realize that there are others who have an idea of the world that resembles yours, because the risk is living in a microcosm whereby you consume yourself and arrive at end of the day tired, maybe pissed off and you can't see the exit", explained Salvini.
"For self-protection, I didn't read the newspapers, but I saw that Ferrari won. A good sign. It's the only red we like", joked the Northern League secretary.
Finally he thanked "the farmers and the tractors because they led the EU to surrender and drop its pants".
