On TikTok, it has more than 10 million publications and nearly 127 billion views: the hashtag crush is the language tic that causes a sensation, punctuating the emotions of young generations Y and Z. The popularity of the word is such that it has just made its entry this year in Le Robert to designate “a crush on someone” or even “flashing at him.”
The crush also describes the person who is the object of the crush, – “I’m seeing my crush this evening”, for example.
Beyond this new term for love speech, Anglicism is today used more broadly to mean the slightest excitement.
We "crush" for the latest it bag from a luxury house, the dress seen on the shoulders of a celebrity, or even the house of one's dreams, a heavenly beach at the end of the world and even a new pastry, like the “crookie”, a mixture of croissant and cookie dough that has been causing panic on social networks for several weeks.
