Older Facebook users in particular will still be familiar with it: a function that was once removed is now celebrating a comeback.
Although their benefits are controversial.
Kassel – In the early days of Facebook there were significantly fewer functions than today.
One of these was the ability to nudge other users to get their attention.
Facebook has now given the button a comeback.
Forgotten feature: Poking on Facebook is coming back
Facebook has been in the spotlight for several announcements in recent months.
Since November 2023, you have to pay so that personalized advertising is no longer displayed.
Facebook users have to pay 9.99 euros per month to stop receiving advertisements.
If you take out the subscription via the browser, you even pay 2.99 euros more.
The announcement of the comeback of the nudge function, however, is positive news from the tech giant.

The function allowed Facebook users to go to other users' profiles and press the "nudge" button there.
The other user then received the message: “You were nudged.” Users used this function to draw others' attention or to show them that they were being thought of - there was no other real function for the button.
Meta now explained: “2010 is back: In the last few months there have been 13 times more nudges than before.” A new function on Facebook brought some advantages, but also concerns.
Nudges are used much more frequently than in previous years
Although many Facebook users hadn't used the nudge option in recent years, the feature still existed.
In order to attract other users' attention, you now had to search for “nudges”.
In the last few weeks, however, the button has become more of a focus again.
Suggestions for nudging other users should also be made in the future.
The option to poke people is as old as Facebook itself, introduced in 2004.
After 2014, the function became more and more hidden due to declining popularity.
Currently, nudging is primarily used by Gen Z and Millennials.
Half of all nudges are at the expense of users between the ages of 18 and 29, as Facebook writes.
Whether the popularity returns to that of the early days remains to be seen in the coming months.
