Other companies pay the recovery allowance as an alternative to the Christmas bonus or the 13th monthly salary.

Recreation allowance for employees: How much money is possible?

Companies can generally pay their employees such a bonus to support them during their recovery time.

Once a year, the employer can also contribute to the vacation costs of its employees.

In this way, 156 euros can be paid out tax- and social security-free, as the German Press Agency reported on the details of the possible recovery allowance - a voluntary benefit from the employer.

If employees have a spouse, 104 euros more can be transferred, and another 52 euros per child can be transferred, according to the Federal Chamber of Tax Advisors (BStBK) dpa.

Quite a few companies offer their employees additional benefits.

If employees actively do something for their health, employers can also provide financial support here, as the dpa report states: Up to an amount of 600 euros per year, for example, costs for nutritional advice, smoking cessation, back training or yoga courses could be covered, if the measure is certified by the health insurance company, the taxpayers' association announced, according to dpa.
