The Ministry of Justice launched a campaign this Monday to find people willing to temporarily welcome adolescents monitored by the judicial protection of young people, and thus become foster families.
When a young person commits an offense, the judge can in fact decide to place him in order to “keep him away from his usual environment”.
This placement is then sometimes carried out in a foster family.
In 2022, the system affected 678 adolescents, figures the ministry.
The role of the people who commit to this mission is to enable these adolescents to “build a future in the best possible conditions” and “to offer them a stable family living environment.”

A free room and a clean locker
To be able to be
host family, it is imperative to have a clean criminal record and to have a free and equipped room “so that the young person has a private space”.
Finally, the accommodation decision must be the result of a consensus in the home.
Families who decide to volunteer and who meet the criteria “benefit from support every day of the year” and receive a daily allowance.
