Donald Trump's trial will begin on April 15 on charges of illegally paying porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy bunny Karen McDougal not to reveal the relationships he had had with them during his previous election campaign.
New York judge Juan Merchan decided this, confirming the date already hypothesized after an initial postponement.
It will be the first trial against a former US president.
The tycoon announced that he will appeal and stated that "the corrupt judges don't want him to campaign".
The embarrassing case of the porn star will therefore be the first criminal trial that Trump will have to face during the electoral campaign, even if it is considered the least risky of the four pending, both politically and in terms of potential prison sentence (rare for a person with a clean criminal record for the falsification of accounting documents).
But if he is found guilty and elected president, he will not be able to pardon himself, as these are state crimes.
Ditto for the trial in Georgia.
