The young true crime podcaster Jula Ansorge is on a big mission: her goal is to clear up miscarriages of justice.

She is currently working on the case of Matthias Hegel (called Auris).

He is an acoustic profiler and has even put criminals in prison.

Now he's in prison for allegedly murdering a homeless woman.

He even confessed to the crime.

Jula Ansorge doesn't believe it and begins to research.

Vincent Kliesch “Auris”: Nothing is as it seems

“Auris” is the first volume in the thriller series by Vincent Kliesch.

There are now four books in the works.

To the untrained ear, the voice says a lot about people.

For example, emotions such as anger, joy or sadness can be filtered out quite easily.

But experts can see much more.

As an acoustic profiler, Matthias Hegel has a trained ear.

Matthias Hegel, called 'Auris' (= Latin: the ear), is an acoustic profiler.

A perpetrator's voice is enough for him to determine his origins, appearance and psyche - and to distinguish truth from lies.

Numerous criminals were convicted with his help.

But now the renowned professor is in prison for a murder that he himself confessed to.

Jula Ansorge, a radio editor with the passion project of the true crime podcast, takes on the matter.

Without any ifs or buts, she contacted Hegel's lawyer and researched his environment.

Is in contact with hackers who pass on information to her and ends up being targeted by the perpetrators herself.

Her little half-brother Elyas, who also gets on the wrong track from time to time, is kidnapped because Jula continued to research.

She doesn't want to listen to warnings from Matthias Hegel, who also seems to be pursuing a plan.

It's a matter of life and death - you could hear that in the perpetrator's voice.

“Auris”: Who is friend and who is enemy?

The young radio editor Jula Ansorge fights alone - she has had to for a long time, as she herself has a story behind her that is a case for her own podcast.

Her big brother is said to have raped her in Argentina and then killed himself in a cell.

However, Jula doesn't believe that it was her brother who raped her - the smell and stature didn't match.

She broke off contact with her mother because she criticized her for the podcast.

She doesn't have the best relationship with her father.

Her ex-boyfriend Paul has betrayed her - or is it perhaps he who is playing the wrong game and pulling the strings?

“Auris” based on an idea by Sebastian Fitzek

Sometimes all it takes is a bit of luck and chance.

This is what happened when Sebastian Fitzek and Vincent Kliesch met, as he tells IPPEN.MEDIA: “I met him at a radio station.

I found out he was there.

My book was supposed to be published by a major publisher.

As luck would have it, I stood and chatted with him in the coffee kitchen for a short while.

Since then we have met again and again in Berlin and have developed stories with each other.”

The core idea of “Auris” comes from Sebastian Fitzek, who wrote “The Therapy”, for example.

The exchange between the two authors was intensive, as Kliesch continues: “We talk on the phone every week and discuss everything we have written.

We have each other’s backs.” Fitzek “outsourced” the idea for the “Auris” series because he didn’t have time for it.

But things should continue and Sebastian Fitzek will no longer play such a big role: “Bit by bit, the name Fitzek will also disappear from the titles in the “Auris” series.”

  • Auris (2019)

  • The Frequency of Death (2020)

  • Death Rush (2021)

  • The Sound of Evil (2022)

By the way, Sebastian Fitzek is upping the ante when it comes to thrillers with “The Invitation”, the book will be published on October 25th.

Vincent Kliesch “Auris”: The conclusion

The following section contains opinion:

“Auris” by Vincent Kliesch is the first part of a promising series.

It's a real page turner that always raises questions and raises doubts.

I've caught myself thinking at one time or another that I've got the truth out now.

Again and again you are proven wrong and the next exciting shoot comes along.

Which protagonists can you trust?

Who is playing the wrong game and trying to pull the strings?

The ending is open - so you don't really know which of the many theories is correct.

Even if there is no resolution at the end, I can't be mad about it because Kliesch managed to draw me into his world with the book.

An exciting, entertaining excursion into the world of profiler Matthias Hegel and radio editor Jula Ansorge.
