Free psychological support, even remotely, for patients suffering from hereditary metabolic diseases, in particular hypophosphatemic rickets (XLH).

It is the Aurora Project, wanted by Aismme APS, to help families struggling with a rare pathology, with pediatric onset, which produces skeletal lesions, anomalies affecting the bones, muscles and joints due to the excessive loss of phosphorus.

Those affected - it is estimated that it affects one newborn every 60 thousand - suffer from severe pain, have difficulty moving and very often have to resort to surgery and rehabilitation.

"The Aurora Project is our response to the requests for psychological support from families of patients and adult patients suffering from metabolic diseases relating to the Verona Hospital and from hypophosphatemic patients, wherever they live, whose important problems emerged in the various contacts with our listening help center - explains the president of Aismme Aps Cristina Vallotto -. The service is an oasis of listening and understanding, a safe space to explore and deal with emotions, which helps to support the emotional challenges linked to the condition".

The service, with the support of the psychologist and psychotherapist Sarah Carcereri, can be booked via email at ufficio.psicologico@aismme.org.

An appointment will be made by telephone, video consultation or in person within 72 hours.
