The incorporation of the bills on the end of life in the Senate is skipped due to the absence of the government, whose presence is necessary in all parliamentary activity.

The senators of the Justice and Social Affairs Commissions, where today the bills were only supposed to be illustrated, received a communication adjourning the session due to the absence of the government.

"We are disappointed - commented Alfredo Bazoli, PD group leader in Justice and signatory of one of the bills - it is clear that there is a political problem, given that any undersecretary is enough to establish a provision".

Pd: the dismissal of the commissions is unacceptable

"It is surprising and inexplicable that, a few minutes after the start of the session, the commissions meeting to examine the law on the end of life were called off. The reason, a sudden unavailability of the government, is not acceptable, because it was a question of establishing the provision, to make the introductory reports and establish a calendar of work, for which an undersecretary without specific delegation was enough. We hope it will be a very short postponement, because an obstructionist attitude on the part of the majority on such a topic would not be acceptable important issue on which parliament is seriously behind."

Thus Alfredo Bazoli and Sandra Zampa, respectively Pd group leader in the Justice commission and Pd group leader in the Social Affairs commission.

De Cristofaro (Avs): serious failure to bury a necessary law

In Italy there is no law on the end of life.

A legislative void that became a chasm after the 2019 Constitutional Court ruling. A void that forced some Regions to try to legislate autonomously even in the absence of a national law.

The President of the Constitutional Court Barbera also spoke on this issue, urging Parliament to approve a law as soon as possible.

To fill this gap, the proposals on the end of life, including that of AVS, should have been introduced in the Senate today.

But the absence of the government in the commission prevented the bills presented from being scheduled.

A serious thing that risks scuttling a debate on a law that is more necessary than ever." This was stated by the group leader of the Green and Left Alliance Peppe De Cristofaro, president of the Mixed group of Palazzo Madama.
