Crises seem big and insurmountable, a pinch of humor can help, says Sebastian 23. His new book shows that small steps can make a difference.

“Everything will be fine – saving the world in 5712 simple steps” is the name of Sebastian 23’s new book. The claim “Everything will be fine” is associated with a certain provocation today, says Sebastian 23, whose real name is Sebastian Rabsahl, in Conversation with

rechner FM

at the Leipzig Book Fair.

Rabsahl believes it is important that people are informed about the problems in the world.

“It would also be good for us as humans if we regularly looked at the positive movements that already exist.”

They are not (always) reported in the news, but they do exist.

People therefore need media literacy so that they do not get too one-sided information.

Rabsahl also addresses these positive measures in his book.

“Everything will be fine”: Crises surround us, but there are solutions

There are a lot of problems in the world, crises line up one after the other and seem to be increasing in number.

On the other hand, you should also see the possibilities of how we can tackle problems together.

They come in small and large sizes.

Sebastian 23 writes about 5712 steps on how to save the world:

When I turn on the news, I often only realize minutes later that I'm not watching an end-of-the-world Hollywood film, but that things are really that bad for us: poles are melting, wars are raging.

Flood here, storm there, Alice Weidel, drought, pandemic and sausage in your own intestine.

Staying hopeful in the face of this is a challenge.

But it is also a duty at the same time, because the alternative would be to give up, become cynical and wish the cockroaches well.

We all know that things cannot stay as they are.

Concern is understandable, but it should not be our only reaction.

A minimum level of optimism is required in order to remain able to act - and we must act in order to remain optimistic.

Of course, this book does not claim to be able to solve all the world's crises.

But it shows that many crises can be solved.

And through us.

This way you can take the heaviness out of conversations and reach people in a completely different way.

For example, even difficult topics can resonate very differently with people.
