  • Volume 2 – Under the Spell of the Cyclops

  • Volume 3 - The Titan's Curse

  • Volume 4 – The Battle for the Labyrinth

  • Volume 5 – The Last Goddess

Anyone who has already devoured all the books in the Percy Jackson series is certainly a true connoisseur of the fantasy world surrounding Percy and his friends and is all too familiar with Greek mythology.

Then the following five facts should come as no surprise to you, right?

Percy Jackson – Fact 1: It all started with... bedtime stories

According to carlsen.de

, Rick Riordan's son is

basically responsible for the successful youth book series.

So before he went to sleep he wanted to hear stories about Greek gods and heroic legends from his father.

Since Riordan, as a teacher, is very familiar with Greek mythology, he was able to tell his son a lot.

Beyond the classic stories, he ultimately invented the demigod we know, Percy Jackson, and his adventures.

Percy Jackson – Fact 2: Everything blue, even on the plate?

Percy's favorite color is blue, just like his human mother Sally Jackson.

Percy and Sally seem to be obsessed with the color blue and everything colored in it - especially when it comes to food.

When Percy's stepfather Gabe claims there are no blue candies, Sally makes it her mission to find them.

Since she works in a New York candy shop, it's not far, so she brings Percy

a bag full of blue candy at the start of every summer vacation, according to

riordan.fandom.com .

To top it all off, she even bakes Percy a blue birthday cake.

Percy Jackson – Fact 3: Sea blue eyes?

As the son of the God of the Sea, one would probably assume that Percy has blue eyes.

Poseidon himself is usually said to have blue eyes and Percy's mother Sally also has blue eyes.

Only Percy's eyes are not blue, but actually a beautiful sea green.

Percy Jackson – Fact 4: Demigod with a learning disability

Percy Jackson struggles with ADHD and dyslexia and his restlessness often disrupts lessons.

At the school for demigods, however, he learns that both his ADHD and dyslexia are characteristics of his divine descent.

So what has long caused him trouble in the mortal world now makes him something special.

The inspiration for these characteristics of the young demigod came from Rick Riordan's own son Haley, who himself was diagnosed with both (

).

In this way, Riordans wanted to show him that being different doesn't have to be a disadvantage.

Percy Jackson – Fact 5: Long live Percy!

Can't get enough of your favorite demigod?

No problem, because the adventures continue.

Rick Riordan doesn't let his loyal readers down even after the fifth volume and provides his fans with many more books about Percy and other heroes of Greek mythology.
