On February 19, 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially announced their retirement as working members of the British royal family.

, the Sussexes would consider returning to work there, “on their own terms only”.

The couple lives in California in Montecito with their two children, Archie (4 years old) and Lilibet (2 years old).
Since his stormy departure and the famous “Megxit”, they have visited the United Kingdom very rarely.
They notably made the trip at the time of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the last time that Prince Harry and his brother William were seen together.
Meghan Markle did not attend the coronation of King Charles II in May 2023.

But since the announcement of the cancers of Charles III and Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have spoken “at length” about a return, in order to help them.
“Shocked and upset” at the time of the announcement of his father's illness, the Duke of Sussex was even ready to resume a “temporary” role.

However, according to royal expert Tom Quinn, this possibility would have little chance of succeeding and would “rapidly diminish”.

“The fact that the number of members of the royal family is seriously declining at the moment has revived their hopes.”
At the time of Kate's cancer announcement, the couple sent a message of support.
“We wish Kate and the family health and healing and hope they can do so privately and peacefully.”
However, Kate Middleton and Prince William do not intend to reconcile with the couple and prefer for the moment to concentrate on the healing of the Princess of Wales.
