The young man was hit by a wheel that had come loose from a car that had had a racing accident on the timed trial in Renaio (Lucca) where he witnessed the passing of the competitors from a hill over four meters high and at a safe distance from the road.
Immediately assisted by an ambulance, he was taken to Pisa with the 118 helicopter.
At the Pisa hospital the doctors did everything to save him, also subjecting him to a delicate surgical operation for trauma to his face and chest but the 22-year-old, originally from Pescaglia (Lucca), a town in the area, never recovered and died today in the late afternoon.
On the matter of the accident, also based on the findings of the Carabinieri, the deputy prosecutor of the Republic of Lucca Paola Rizzo had already opened a file in recent days, having the car from which the tire that hit the young man came off.
