"The League has never changed its mind on this. Let's hope that there is the right-of-centre government in Brussels that there is in Italy and no one can put vetoes.
No one can say I don't want Le Pen and I prefer Macron because this would not be useful either to Italy or to Europe".
This was stated by the vice-president of the council and transport minister Matteo Salvini, leader of the League, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new Bergamo motorway junction.
"I'm always confident - explains Salvini - because if there is an alliance that works in Italy I don't see why it shouldn't work in Europe. If someone from the centre-right prefers the socialists and Macron who talks about war and Le Pen who talks about peace and work it's a problem ".
"I - he concludes - know who to be with, I know what to choose and certainly the left-wing drive of electric-only cars, synthetic steaks and house tax is not my Europe. I hope that the centre-right is united on this".
