A 54-year-old worker was seriously burned on his face and arms after being hit by a blaze this morning in a company in Palestro (Pavia), a municipality in Lomellina on the border with the province of Vercelli.
According to initial investigations, the man was struck by a sudden flame which was apparently caused by combustion coming from a machine.
Rescued by the 118 operators, he was transported by helicopter to the burn center at the Niguarda hospital in Milan: his condition is serious, he is not considered life-threatening.
The Carabinieri and ATS Pavia inspectors have started investigations to reconstruct the dynamics and causes of the accident.
