For some people, the Plus discounter is as much a part of their childhood as video game character Mario is to Luigi.
A photo now brings back memories.
Kassel – Well, who can still remember the discounter Plus back then, which always advertised its “low prices”?
There seem to be some on Reddit who were able to experience the Tengelmann era.
If you believe one user, they had their best time working there.
He became nostalgic after someone shared an old Plus deposit token on the platform.
Old deposit stamp from Plus lets users indulge in nostalgia: “That’s crazy”
The author of the article published his find in the subreddit “r/de”, according to the description, the “collection basin for all German speakers”.
In the photo you can see a silver cap, which does not give the impression that it is valuable.
But behind the red-brown rust there is something of unspeakable value: memories of times long past.
“This is insane,” one Reddit user commented.
Another begins to say that Plus was his favorite discount store at the time and explains it with: “I had little money during my training, so that was ideal.” Whether the deposit stamp is really worth money is questionable.
In fact, there is an “offer” on classified ads for a whopping 1000 euros.
If that's not a bargain.
“Thanks for Flips and Mezzo Mix”: Plus deposit stamp brings back memories
Thanks to the find, a Reddit user was even able to remember the name of the saleswoman at his former Plus branch.
He then wrote to her: “Thank you for Flips and Mezzo Mix.” With more than 2,000 branches, Plus was one of the largest discounters in Germany.
In 2010, Edeka finally took over the chain and transformed the branches into Netto Marken-Discounts.
A photo of Schlecker, a drugstore chain at the time, also caused nostalgia on Reddit.
The users then unpacked their wildest stories in the comments column.
In 2012, after around 40 years in trading, the founder Anton Schlecker announced bankruptcy.
