The cult scene, at least for us Italians, is already there and it is the one that sees Godzilla crouched inside the Colosseum taking a nap.

And it doesn't end here for the poor Rome of the historic center which will be partially destroyed by the monster's carefree walk.

For the rest, in Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire, in theaters tomorrow with Warner Bros Pictures, Legendary Pictures' cinematic Monsterverse continues with this brand new adventure which sees the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla fight side by side against a colossal threat that lies hidden in our world.

Not only that, in this last chapter of the saga the stories and origins of these two titans are explored in depth, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island, revealing, among other things, what is behind the mythical battle that contributed to forging these extraordinary beings and linked them to humanity.

In the third film of the Monsterverse saga with Kong, preceded by Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla vs.

Kong (2021), we will then also discover the charm of the hollow earth where a mysterious people lives who build enormous pyramids, because they know the laws to invert gravity and we will then witness the new look of Godzilla, complete with purple scales and spines and pink, and Kong's with gray hair and beard.

Finally, even Godzilla's noisy atomic roar has changed color: from blue it becomes reddish, symbolizing the increase in power.

41-year-old Adam Wingard returns to direct the film, starring Rebecca Hall (Godzilla vs. Kong, The Night House), Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns and Fala Chen.

However, the first reactions to this monster blockbuster seem more than positive.

Some speak of "an atomic explosion", others of a "fantastically strange and psychedelic journey through the Shōwa era".

And finally, those who find the "tons of wild kaiju action and so many colors" as the strengths of Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire.

"Godzilla - explains Adam Wingard, who is also an actor, producer, screenwriter, photographer, editor and effects author as well as a director - changes its meaning based on the culture, on the roots of the spectator who admires him. For the Japanese it represents something that perhaps in a another continent is ignored. When I was thirteen I was unaware of the nuclear threat and the consequences of what had happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. However, I knew that Godzilla had more nuances. He was born as a danger, but he could also transform into the champion who did not is expected. This ambiguity fascinates me. Then decades passed - continues the director -, but some elements remain current. From one moment to the next a missile can change our history forever and wipe us out. Another message that it conveys to us is respect for the environment. At a certain point, as it is showing us, nature could rebel."

The film's original music is by Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL in collaboration with Antonio Di Iorio, the duo returns to the Monsterverse after having scored Godzilla vs.

Kong.
