Highlights: INPS, in the private sector 17.7 million pensions, 248 billion spent. In 2023, 1,364,686 pensions were paid, of which 48.6% (663,705) were of a welfare nature. Annualized amounts allocated for the new payments in 2023 amount to 14.3 billion euros. The percentage of welfare on the total was 46.5% in 2022 but the difference compared to 20 years earlier, in 2003 was 11 points (it was 37.6%).

We read it in the INPS Observatory on pensions which underlines that the overall annual amount for these pensions is equal to 248.7 billion euros of which 222.8 billion supported by social security management and 25.9 billion by welfare management .
