"You contribute to the defense of the democratic state and the rules of the international community which are essential for peaceful progress and for the cohesion between the nations that we hope to restore - this is the vocation we have always cultivated - as an Italian republic. It is a commitment made even more stringent by the international instability induced by the invasion of Ukraine and by the violence in the Middle East triggered by the cruel terrorist attack by Hamas with Israel's reaction to Gaza and the many civilian victims and also with the serious actions against freedom of navigation in the Red Sea".

The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella underlined this when speaking to the leaders of the Air Force.
