According to the Stepstone salary report, the average salary in Germany is 50,250 euros gross per year.

As

Finanz.de

calculates, this corresponds to an income of around 2,741 euros net per month in tax class 1. However, the median is significantly behind at 43,750 euros gross per year (2,443 euros net per month).

Since the average value can be influenced by extremely high or low values, the salary figures in the Stepstone report refer to the median salary.

The median is the value that lies exactly in the middle of all values.

This means that there are exactly the same number of salaries that are lower and that are higher than the median salary.

According to Stepstone, 921,973 compensation data collected between January 2021 and November 2023 were evaluated for the statistics.

All evaluations are based on salary information collected from full-time employees.
