The US Coast Guard has suspended the search for the six missing people after the collapse of the Baltimore bridge.

"The waters are too dangerous for divers, but we will continue with ships into the night," explained Maryland police chief Roland Buttler, announcing that underwater searches will resume on Wednesday at 6, 11 in Italy.

"Given the temperature of the water and the time that has passed since the collapse of the bridge, we do not believe that we will be able to find any of the six missing people still alive", said the head of the Baltimore Coast Guard, Admiral Shannon Gilreath, after the announcement of the

suspension of searches with divers.

Dali had passed two inspections in 2023

The container ship that crashed into the Baltimore bridge had passed two inspections in 2023, causing numerous injuries, while six workers are still missing.

The port authority of Singapore announced this, underlining that the certifications attesting to the structural integrity and equipment of the Dali - this is the name of the vessel - were valid at the time of the accident.

The cargo vessel flies the Singapore flag, is 48 meters wide, 300 meters long and was built in 2015. It was headed to Colombo and should have arrived at its destination on April 22nd.

The ship, according to the US Captains Association, went into "total blackout" shortly before impact.

The pilot did "everything he could do" to slow her down and keep her from drifting toward the bridge, said Clay Diamond, executive director and general counsel of the American Pilots Association.

"A few minutes before the crash, there was a total blackout, which means that the ship lost engine power and

electrical energy," the director explained to CNN.
