A request for a plea deal of 2 years and 10 months in prison.

This is what was requested by the defenders of Tommaso Verdini, son of the former parliamentarian Denis, involved in the investigation by the Rome Prosecutor's Office into the alleged irregularities in the awarding of contracts to Anas, including one of 180 million euros for the renovation of tunnels .

The plea bargaining request was brought to the attention of the magistrates of Piazzale Clodio a few days ago in the proceedings in which the crimes of corruption and auction rigging are alleged and now the Capitoline Prosecutor's Office will have to evaluate whether to give the possible green light.

In recent weeks, prosecutors had requested and obtained immediate judgment for Verdini and other suspects, including Fabio Pileri, partner of the former parliamentarian's son in the 'Inver' company.

For this affair, Verdini jr was subjected to house arrest on 28 December last.

The 'system' that revolved around the Inver lobbying company emerges from the investigation papers.

Some entrepreneurs have turned to the latter, managed by Verdini and Pileri (who could ask for an abbreviated procedure), to obtain, in exchange for benefits according to the accusation, part of the rich orders of the company which deals with road infrastructures and manages the network of state roads and motorways of national interest.

According to the investigators, we are in the presence of a "total subservience" of the function in favor of the entrepreneurs involved.

According to the accusation of the magistrates, coordinated by the deputy Paolo Ielo, Inver facilitated a series of companies in participating and, thanks to access to confidential information, winning contracts with Anas, being able to count on two managers renamed in a interception of "the marshals who preside over the fort", to whom the 'clique' guaranteed career advancement and confirmation in top positions at Anas.

In this triangular mechanism, a key role was played by Denis Verdini himself, who also ended up in the register of suspects.

A "strategist" who could guarantee political support, at least this is the conviction of the investigators, to get to checkers in the awarding of contracts.

"It emerges that Denis Verdini - writes the investigating judge in the precautionary order - is a de facto partner of Inver, he decides its strategy, he is the one who by virtue of his political weight and his relationships with Undersecretary Freni (not investigated in the proceedings, ed. )...ensures banks or supports that allow him, directly or through his son Tommaso, and Pileri to promise and guarantee" to public officials "career advancement in Anas or redeployment in important work positions".
