After just over 300 years,
Luigi Riccoboni
's show
'Harlequin Mute Out of Fright' is back on stage in Paris,
which in 1716 marked the return of the
Comedians to the Court of France
, after 15 years of exile.
Riccoboni's plot was staged in the Ville Lumière by
the Vicenza-based company Stivalaccio Teatro
, which renews the Commedia dell'Arte, bringing it back to the glories of the past, so much so that it won the prestigious
2023 National Association of Theater Critics
award .

In the audience, on Tuesday evening 26 March 2024 at the
Theater Hebertot
, in addition to many Parisians, there was also the director of the Italian Cultural Institute
Antonio Calbi
and
Carlo Boso
director and director of the
Aidas
(Académie Internationale Des Arts du Spectacle) of Versailles as well as living legend of the Commedia dell'Arte.
Many open-stage applause and laughter decreed the triumph of the representation, exactly as happened in 1716.

The show has nine performers (
Sara Allevi, Marie Coutance, Matteo Cremon, Anna De Franceschi, Michele Mori, Stefano Rota, Pierdomenico Simone, Maria Luisa Zaltron and Marco Zoppello
who also wrote the original story and the direction) and brings back to life one of the most represented plots in Paris in the early 18th century, proposing it for the first time in a modern key, an emblematic expression of the profound ties that unite Italy and France through the centuries.
