The iconic raft from the film Titanic, thanks to which Rose was saved from sinking, was auctioned for 718,750 dollars.
For years, fans of the film James Cameron have been discussing on the web why the character of Jack, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, had not climbed onto that piece of wood with Kate Winslet instead of dying tragically in the icy waters of the Atlantic, breaking their hearts. to millions of people around the world.
Discussions were so heated that after 25 years even the director of the blockbuster intervened.
Not only did Cameron also give a scientific explanation by participating in a study carried out as part of a National Geographic documentary for the 25th anniversary of the film.
A hypothermia expert reproduced the raft from the film which was then submerged in freezing water.
So sensors were placed on two stunt doubles with the same build as the protagonists to understand if and how they could both survive.
The conclusion was that "only one could do it", declared the director, hoping "not to have to talk about that scene anymore".
Forrest Gump's shoes, Marilyn Monroe's pleated dress, Jim Carrey's mask, Indiana Jones' whip, Jack Nicholson's ax in The Shining and Chewbacca's disguise in Star Wars also went up for auction together with the raft from the movie Titanic.
Photos of the pieces were published by the auction site.
