President Xi Jinping met with representatives of the American business and academic communities today in Beijing, in an eagerly awaited event as part of the Mandarin leadership's efforts to encourage foreign investment and reassure US companies in the face of a slowing economy.
"On the morning of March 27, President Xi Jinping met with representatives of the US business and academic community in the Great Hall of the People. The meeting began around 11 local time (4 in Italy)," reported il Quotidiano del Popolo, the voice of the Party Chinese communist.
